Jade Vine, Borrowed from Heaven.

Side garden, jade vine in bloom.

THIS time of year, the divine madness of the Holidays once again behind us, we enjoy casually scouting out the first signs that another season's great show is to begin, quietly at first. The jade vine is coming! It can take your breath away.

After this crazy winter, first bloom of this year's jade vine, and a promise of coming glory. Spotted by Alan on Wednesday, April 14 2010.

It starts simply enough, with the arrival of one, three, then a handful, and suddenly countless long stringbean-shaped pods that just show up. One can be seen near center of this photo, taken just in front of the Cottage in January of last year:

BEFORE you know it, one of Mother Nature's great silent fireworks displays is once again underway.

Here is a view of the the Cottage as seen from the yard of our other rental property just next door, "the Mission." The yellow flowers beneath adorn the acacia tree overarching the excavated coral reef that lends the Cottage its name.

Finally, we stroll toward the patio/ seating area out in the side garden:

Sometimes life can be sweet. And we need it to be. Sometimes the key we scramble to seek, always elsewhere, is in fact all around us and close enough to touch, patiently awaiting. It is often in the simple things.

Come. Allow yourself to be delighted.

You deserve it.
